Collection of oneshots, by the author of Houseki no Kuni.
Lovely Strange Dark picked this up, so they’ll release chapters whenever if they’re still working on it.
V.1 – Mushi to Uta (Insects and Songs)
“The Lover of Stars”, a story spelling out the writer’s feelings for the little sister born from his fingers. “The Hinoshita Siblings”, a moving story about the relationship between a highschool baseball player with an injured shoulder and “Hina”, who continues to grow. “Violite”, which describes the meeting of two people involved in a plane accident. Finally, “Insects and Songs”, a shocking work that won the Shikitaishou award. These four stories, painting a picture of a unique setting and the bonds between various lifeforms who live in it, are recorded here. This is the long awaited first volume released by a new author rapidly growing in popularity as each of her sensational stories are published in monthly “Afternoon” magazine!!
V.2 – 25-Ji no Vacances (25-Hour Vacation)
Marine biologist Nishi Otome takes time off and reunites with her brother, Kotaro, for the first time in a while. He sees her at the 25th hour of the night with shellfish taking over her body in “25 Hour Vacation”. The meeting between the delinquent, Nana, and a strange transfer student to “Pandora Women’s College” located on a satellite of Saturn is described in “On Pandora”. In “The Funeral of the Moon”, a genius highschooler begins living with a lone man in the deep snows of the north.
Needs an editor.
Here’s a chapter of that lovable dinosaur bully. The current scans are watermarked, flipped garbage, so an editor and I decided to work on replacing those scans. Additional editing by laika.
A few pages of the first chapter were watercolored for the tank print. My favorite chapters are later in the series, so I look forward to seeing those in higher quality if I can find an editor for this again.
Read online (GON Selection extra chapter)
This also got a CG adaptation that maybe 5 other people watched, according to the threads. Everyone talks, and I don’t recall anyone subbing all of it. 17 episodes were subbed. You can mostly follow along with what’s happening without subs.
Apparently, GON has resumed serialization. However, that announcement was years ago, and I haven’t seen any information on a new volume. There’s a low-quality scan of one of the more recent chapters (2013-11) floating around, but that might’ve just been a promotional chapter for the show (logo is the same as the show). Maybe the news mistook this chapter and the GON Selection volume as a new serialization. In 2006-2007, a spin-off was serialized in Comic BonBon called “Gon-chan”, so I might buy those issues someday and scan them (along with Afternoon 2013-11). I have no idea what Tanaka Masashi is up to these days.
This series was also licensed in English twice.
Sixteen years after the laws to ban dirty jokes were enacted, Japan has become a perfectly sound yet boring society.
This is a story of two rebels against the status quo, via obscene acts of terrorism.
Looks like the group that picked this up has stalled, so go offer them help if you want to.
Money is buried in the ground!
Natsunosuke Bonda is a relief pitcher in Tokyo Spiders. In his eighth pro season, he makes 18 million yen at age 26. But he is always troubled by how little he makes, given that he is surrounded by high income earning baseball players.
This is a relief pitcher’s story in Nippon Pro Baseball, his envies, worries, sweat and tears.
Golgo has a handful of sealed chapters. Here’s one of them.
